Fears vs. Dreams

Fears vs. Dreams is a campaign from TWLOHA that started on Warped Tour in 2011. It is an invitation to answer two important questions, "What is your biggest fear?" and "What is your greatest dream?" The goal is for people to connect, engage and know they are not alone.

Campaign Specifics: What made this campaign so successful?

Fears and dreams are something everyone thinks about or struggles with. Often we believe we are the only one who has that fear or that our dream may be impossible. This campaign has allowed thousands of people to connect via social media (#FearsVsDreams) and at events across the country. It is incredible to watch people read fears and dreams and realize how similar they are to someone they have never even met. There is no gimmick or catch to participate. We simply want to open up a conversation because everyone deserves to know their voice matters.

Which nonprofit will receive the grant prize?

This is REAL. People need to feel that they are here for a reason. People need to know that they change the world simply by being in it. In my case, I was exactly in a position to need the message of TwLoHA to have made a huge difference in places I never thought I would. People who are hurting this way have SO much beauty to offer the world, because they understand pain, love,and CHANGE in a way that perhaps the rest of the world does not. That understanding transcends boundaries, races, situations, whatever you've got to lay out on the line! The world needs us; we hurt because the world around us hurts. Think about it, then support this cause. Someone you know is hurting, and awareness could save their lives...because of the fact that those like us are never alone. NEVER alone. Tell somebody.

Last year I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I was sad, depressed and I had no idea why. When this idea surfaced on the web, I started questioning myself: What is my biggest fear? what is my biggest dream?. When I was trying to answers this questions I started crying

I felt relief and I found out that my fears were stopping me to become who I had to be. My fears were in the way of my dreams. This campaign was the starter of a radical change in my life, and I will always treasure that.
